A ship load of memories ... (New Orleans, LA)

This was the busiest period of my life I believe - at work I mean. It was straight 10 days away from home away & from my wife, felt really tiring and boring at times as I had no company for such a long time. I had an option either to fly back home or stay at my clients place. Well, after having worked for about two years in Baton Rouge I had visited New Orleans downtown only for couple of hours just to feel the vibe but never experienced it in total. Both the times I’ve been to this city it was only Bourbon street that I explored. This time I had decided it’s no longer going to be Bourbon but everything else. The most special things of all I've done in the trip was to visit many hotels in the area. Surprised??? Yes, I make my trips random and I usually don't have a long list of places that I choose to visit. That's how it's been for sometime now and this is how usually I enhance my trips by visiting random places that are less spoken or less visited by tourists.

(I have not been able to write much in detail of all the places I visited so I captured photos of this beautiful place, so open each link to see what I experienced in New Orleans)

What surprised me was also the grand Starbucks store, I loved the interior and how special they made the store look like.

The St.Louis Cemetery #3: This was spectacular. Because I’ve never seen graves this big and how detailed they were. It seemed like families have made their last rites very special and memorable. This goes back to a quote I read at the Renaissance hotel, “It’s not what you take out of life, It’s what you leave”.

An afternoon in the Esplanade Avenue & Esplanade City Park: This was a tiny stretch of a lake / canal passing through the city and is the closest to the New Orleans Museum of Art. I found few strange birds which I’ve never seen and a turtle which was hiding away from me as I approached it 😊

Ride in the RTA Streetcar: This is the second time after my Dallas trip that I had a chance to travel in streetcars. Yet to the streetcars in SFO

Court of Two Sisters and the Devils’ Well: I didn’t expect this place to be a restaurant until I stepped into it. I was welcomed by a gentlemen who approached me and asked if I’m an Indian. The moment I confirmed my origins, he started appreciating how well he was treated by few Indians when he was in Sweden some time back and started treating me with high respect. He gave me wonderful tour with the history this place has and how it became popular. The courtyard used to be an auctioning place by whites to buy black women in the 1800’s. Today’s  lobby was actually a carriageway through which auctioneers would enter and disembark into the restaurant. Today the hotel attracts many tourist for its historic identity and the rich memories one has by eating under a tree which is about 165-185 years old. There’s a Devils well which is known to have been a famous place for a Voodoo lady to have performed sacrifices long time back.
